Arts Providers needed in Hartford

Hartford Performs is seeking new arts providers across the region to join our arts education collaborative for the 2015 - 2016 school year in Hartford, CT. 
 
We are currently accepting applications for new arts integrated workshops, short-term residences, in-school performances, offsite performances and museum visits appropriate for students in grades PK -8. 
 
To learn more about Hartford Performs and becoming a Hartford Performs arts provider please consider joining us for an upcoming information session and/or our application workshops. These information sessions are for those new to Hartford Performs. Arts providers will gain understanding of Hartford Performs and what it means to be listed in the Hartford Performs Program Database and answer any questions about the application process. 
 
Getting to Know the New National Arts Standards Workshop, Monday, February 2, 9:30 – 11:30am 
This past summer the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards released its first draft of core art standards. The new standards are intended to be an updated, unified framework for those 
delivering arts education that includes grade-by-grade benchmarks across the art forms in creating, performing, responding and connecting. The workshop will include: 
• Philosophy behind the new arts standards 
• Introduction to understanding the new art standards 
• How you can make the strongest connections to the art standards. 
 
Exploring Intersections Between the Common Core State Standards and the Arts, Wednesday, February 11, 9:30 – 11:30am 
This workshop is designed for applicants who are interested in deepening their understanding of how to bridge core curriculum subjects to the arts. This workshop will explore the needs of the 
district and how to take a backwards-design approach to developing an arts integration program. The workshop will include: 
• Uncovering how you can support learning in curriculum subjects and the arts 
• How to assess students’ understanding and comprehension during an arts integration program 
• Understanding identified areas of need and interest when designing new programs.
